"CNC" stands for "Computer Numerically Controlled". The turning technique means the material typically spins at a high speed with the tooling held stationary to remove the excess material and creates the unique shape and characteristics. The design is specified on a computer using CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools to instruct the machine tool as to the profile and shape of the design. This allows for complex parts to have extremely high repeatability of quality The use of both standard turning centers along with "live tooling" (when both the material and tooling are spinning relative to each other) which allows multi-axis machining all within one process.
